Worst? Nie Li is the mc of one of the most famous and popular Wuxia/Xianxia web-novels of all time. It is a masterpiece that was #1 for years...it only finally fell from grace after hundreds of chapters the author started to only release one new chapter per month while focusing on his new novel "Star Martial God Technique" instead. This enraged fans for dropping the story right in the middle. It was seriously excellent and if you read the novel you will most likely agree. I almost don't want to recommend it as you will be frustrated when he simply stops caring about it.

As to the merits of your criticism about making others fight his battles...how rude would it be to not allow Duan Jian his vengeance? This is most definitely not Nie Li's battle...it is actually Duan Jian's battle. mc is helping Duan Jian to take his revenge. If you understand the asian concept of filial piety, then you should know that ONLY Duan Jian must take this revenge. No silly concept of mc can be the only one fighting can apply here. By helping Duan Jian to power up and helping him with the most important thing in his life, that is taking revenge for the murder of his parents (which because of filial piety, is far more important than merely his own life of torture) - by helping Duan Jian with this Nie Li has earned Duan Jian's gratitude...forever. Duan Jian will become Nie Li's follower. This is critically important in the upcoming story.

The key thing was even revealed in this very episode...Nie Li is from the future. In the future at the greatest height of his power...He fought the ultimate evil of the universe...and lost. He now realizes that he can't do it alone. His goal is not to become the Ultimate Powerhouse himself, but to build a group of loyal powerhouses to follow him so they can succeed in the end.

If you have watched the first 4 seasons you should have realized that as that is what then entire storyline has been about. He is powering up his friends in order to fight together things that are more powerful than Nie Li can stand against alone.

diffrence between Japanese anime and Chinese donghuas: while fighting Japanese mc gets flashbacks for same 1000 times and after defeating villaion they forgive them for what..cliché mfs chinese donghuas: mc runs more then fighting...similarities in both : both loves to chatter unnecessary for cliché story dialogues

Also a difference between the two. Chinese Donghuas are usually under 10 minutes long. Of course, there are exceptions, but they usually are under 10 minutes
